I think I would have wanted to have been a Jedburgh as long as I did not need to parachute in to my objectives!

If anything, both battalions spent all of their time trying to survive and little more. But, to each his own.

Even though my own Father was a pilot in Transport Command until 1944 when he was rotated home, I myself would probably follow my maternal uncles into the USN, as I did in real life.

My Dad already had his private pilot's license when Pearl was bombed, and he just enlisted in the USAAF as soon as he could get to a recuiting center. I asked him why he didn't try to go into the Navy as a naval aviator, and he told me he never learned to swim and was terrified of water he couldn't wade across.

Good reason for staying out of the USN I guess! Since I was a Machinist Mate, and just "went where they sent me" the same would be true undoubtely in WW2 as it was in the Vietnam era.

The Red Rabbi says he would like to have worked as a chaplain in Nuremberg prison, doing his best to save what might be left of the souls of those convicted to death in the Nuremberg Trials.

Good lord, no! If I am a citizen of any of the belligerants, I would probably do my patriotic duty to the best of my ability--meaning I'd be somewhere deep, deep in the REMF world doing something inconspicuous but absolutely vital to the success of the war effort such as proper documentations to keep the troops well-nurished with C-rations or having the honor and priviledge to buy the farm on the first go. x_x

Dont you mean Jagdtiger?
And to expand upon that: I am sure if any of you wanted to sere in ground forces, I would think you would want to serve in something with a High Kill/low death ratio. Except the Allies had never destroyed a Jagdtiger in combat and the ones that were destroyed were scuttled by their own crews because they had broken down.

On the part about struggling to keep that steel monster moving, well I will say that I would do that to show my love for my country and to show my enemies that I still defy them. Not in the sense of "ALL HAIL THE REICH!!!!" but to sow that there were some that would go down fighting. All though in the sense that my tank was lost I would run at the Allied lines screaming Komerade!! with my hands up.
