Well, I do not think kidnapping was an real option. I just see it too complicated. I find assassination rather probable. But is your kidnapping point about having him hostage and asking a reward or something for him? I do not think the British would have negotiated, Churchill himself would have forgiven his countrymen if they accepted those kind of negotiations. The main point here is the severe blow to British morale. England has lost her lion and fiercest soul. But to impact on the war, I think it would have had to be in 1940-1941, not after that.
