Shoot, Slava, it's about as viable some of the other hair-brained ideas I've seen in this thread.

I had about thought that this thead was going to peter out. It's like the monster in a bad horror movie, it just keeps rising out of the mist alive, after being thought to be surely dead.

Just barely, my friend.

I think I'll add a post about the Western Allies barreling up through the Bosphorus Straits and landing on Crimea. We then expand that bridgehead up and crossing the various rivers to get to the Volga, then following it upstream and invest Moscow from the East.

What do you think? Two, three weeks top with all of USSR's troops in Central Europe?

Won't work. That approach has already been tried with the Turks and all. Balaclava and all that. An ignominious retreat in the middle of the winter.

It did not. There were thousands of POWs in the Japanese cities, nukes or not, they too suffered bombing.

I just don't see there being hundreds of thousands of Western PoWs in Soviet cities. The US only had lost 130,000 or PoWs, the Brits, 318,000, most of which were captured early in the war and that is counting all theaters of war. This is unless the hypothesis is that the Bristish, French and US land forces in Western Europe were defeat in total before the threat of an atomic (using the term of the era) bomb(s) was/were detonated over Eastern Europe and/or Western Asia.

Soviet Union had several million German POW's after the war. Large number were even paraded through the streets of Moscow on the order's of Stalin to show the Allies that Russia did indeed posess such German POW numbers... in which Soviet trucks drove behind them and cleaned the streets by spraying them with water upon which they walked for symbolic reasons

After Japan the Soviets new very well of the new weapon.... Surely they would try to shield themselves with allied prisoners, no?

The 4 million US troops in Europe at the time is where I got such a number

I don't agree the number could be that high in the absence of a total breakdown of the Western Armies. But then, what are conjecture discussions good for?

And why do you think that so many troops would be taken prisoner especially after the German forces had shared their stories with the Allies sans Bolsheviks? More likely scenario would be the collapse of the Soviet Union just as Russia collapsed during the First World War after the first two atomics went off.
