Why would I want to meet him in any case? To b%^ch slap the s#$t out of him? Very limited fun there. I would rather meet an intellectual like Einstein or someone who has a ribauld sense of life like Chruchill or Kenney than a dour mediocre mind bent on forcing that on the rest of us.

I'd love to meet him. I'd sit down with him at lunch to hear first hand his political discourse and opinions on foreign policy and the military. I'd like to jot down as much information as possible, and then publish it as a book. "My Interview With Hitler" or some such. Hitler was a fascinating personality, far from the 'mediocre mind' as T.A. put it. Yes he was responsible for all kinds of terrible death and destruction, but then there isn't a thing I can do about that, nor anyone else. So its useless and rather childish to talk about beating him up because we don't like what he did. Better to sit down and sift through his ideas and reasonings in person, to get from his own mouth why he did what he did and and the thought processes of his most critical decisions. Personally, I'd be thrilled to have a conversation with Hitler.

Talking to him? You couldn't talk to the man… you could only sit there and listen to a long monologue about whatever, realising how ignorant and pedantic Hitler was, not to mention his bad taste.

I agree with T. A., Churchill was a far more knowledged person, which would have been amazing to talk to.

I can't imagine wanting to listen to anything Churchill has to say. He was as big a windbag as any of them. But Hitler's ideas and opinions were so off the wall he'd at least be entertaining.

Unfortunately, anyone who has read at least one of the many books by Sir Winston L. S. Churchill knows that he was NOT a windbag at all. On the contrary, he was a sophisticated, well-brought and knowledged Historian and writer, with a supperb dominion of the English language.

Hitler wrote a miserable book called Mein Kampf with a stupid, pompous, unclassy and pretemptous prose which does not provide the reader with anything but laughter or even sleepness…

Sir Winston, in 1953, got the NOBEL PRIZE OF LITERATURE:

Just wondering how many nazis really read the mentioned book...For instance Himmler could not get very far with it, however it seems he was very fond of the Koran.

Actually as they say that Hitler was very convincing and that his eyes were something very strange indeed. It might be interesting to know if those eyes were so convincing really...

Yes? Have you tried reading Hitler's Table Talk ? The man was a big time bore, and more than in position to keep a captive audience. See the relevant chapters in Ian Kershaw's Hitler (Nemesis) as well.

That's a good point, Za. 'HTT' is almost impossible to read ; Hitler rambles on and on in a most repetitive way on sometimes trivial subjects.

By all accounts, his 'inner circle' dreaded these monologue sessions and would do almost anything to escape them.

Well Mein Kempf didnt do too well in the bookstores, so good luck finding people who actually read it. I personally havent, but i have heard that it is hard to understand, he rambles alot.

Mein Kempf is a very hard read Hitler wrote a second book and you can buy it don't ask me the title I saw it in a bookshop couple of years ago I decided to skip it and as for Table Talk what a dull book.

Would I like to meet him no thanks.

The other book is in fact entitled 'Hitler's Second Book' edited by Gerhard L Weinberg and published by Enigma Books in 2003.

Again, it's virtually unreadable but the introductory notes about the history of the manuscript make interesting reading.
