If Hitler was killed in the First World War would we had a second?

Possibly yes. Someone else could have led Germany into WW2. Maybe someone smarter ?
Anyway, there are so many other dictators out there, like Stalin, Mussolini and so on. If not a war between the allies and Germany, it could be a war between SU and the West.

I'm sure there would have been another conflict some time or another as the result of the ridiculous terms of the Versailles treaty.

Actual or likely hotspots:
- SU x Finland
- SU x Romania (Bessarabia)
- SU x Poland
- SU x Balts
(heck, which side am I on? )
- Japan x SU (Nonmonhan etc)
- Japan x China, UK, Holland, France, Australia, etc, etc, jeez, these guys were as good as the Germans in picking the wrong amount, type and size of enemies!
- Germany x Poland (yes, under different management!)
- Germany x France (Elsass + Lothringen)
- Romania x Hungary
- Poland x Czechoslovakia
- Miscellaneous Balkan wars
- Italy x a variety (Libya, Ethiopia, Brits)
- Chile x Argentina
- Chaco War Mk.II
- etc etc
and, last but not least,
- Switzerland x Sweden
- Luxembourg x Lichtenstein
- USA x Canada
So you see, plenty of scope for flare ups

I will have to agree with you there Miller. There are numerous sources who identify the Second World War as a continuation of the First World War. Germany had so many sanctions because of the Versailles Treaty that the forementing discontent and economic depression made the country a boilerpot for conflict. The people voluntarily and democratically voted Hitler into office. They voted to lose the right to vote, they gave away control to someone who had a vision and looked like he could lead. They made a poor choice, but Hitler didn't start the political party he headed, there would have been someone else.
There certainly are other places that could have seen conflict. Hitler had little or no bearing on the conflict between China and Japan. I don't see any link between Hitler and Pearl Harbor that would have guaranteed or prevented it, so war between Japan and those countries with colonial holdings in the Pacific was still on track. I don't know if it would have been classified as a world war when it was over.

Definitely.
Without the A-bomb and the fear of total destruction there would have been WW3. Even the cold war would have escalated if the other side had figured that somehow they could win...and we know there would be no winners because with just a fraction of the bombs launched we´d all be dead in the end.
How many times could we destroy the earth with the A-bombs now available? I think it was a figure in thousands, maybe more.

I'm sure if the fuhrer had been killed another great war would break out because many nations, especially Germany were pissed off at the Versailles Treaty. And tensions were high after the First Great War. So even if Hitler had been killed another Great War would have probably broken out.

JG,
we don´t appreciate the usage of such names. Please change it!

Yes, the Versailles treaty was pushing the limits and hard. Naturally after the war Germany was considered the guilty one and the whole nation was to be punished. But in the 1930´s the previous politics were considered too cruel and this enabled Hitler to become the dictator of Germany. Actually totally wrong time to feel guilty about the previous politics because exactly the wrong guy got the help!

Rodi, Japan v China war was on the cards irrespective of Germany. The question perhaps, is if/when the Japanese would have escalated the 1933 conflict south out of China? Would they have chosen conflict with other nations by an attack in the Dutch East Indies, for the oil, and/or an Imperial desire to control the western Pacific?
Re Italy, Gibraltar was a considerable annoyance for Mussolini and his ambition for Mare Nostro, but he would never have gone to war with his British ally over it. Equally he/Italy would love to get back Nice and Savoy, but would not war with France. No European states would be upset in any meaningful way about anything Italy did in Africa unless it encroached on their acquisitions and trade there. I see a possibility of some conflict in Europe due to Italian expansion along and across the Adriatic. However, I also think there would be much ‘sabre-rattling’ and many stand-downs, and nothing too serious unless Stalin chose to be involved?
For my 2 cents worth, I think the problem child of Europe would have been Poland.

I agree with what you say, No. 9. If Japan were suffering the same US restrictions it would likely follow the same strategy of going for the Dutch oil and creating the Western defensive perimeter.
Poland would be quite a problem in itself due to the nature of it's politics.
Il Duce would pursue his adventures in Africa without going too far - Libya, Somaliland and Ethipia. In Europe, absent Hitler, he would possibly meddle in Austria, Albania and Greece. But then the latter might trigger a reaction from the SU, and on a good day Turkey too!

I also believe that another conflict will have occured even if Hitler has died in WWI. I personnaly think that it wasn't only Hitler feeling but some kind of social problems that were in place in Germany at that time.
For sure, somebody has to stood first to launch such conflict but if not Hitler, i think that someone will have take his place....If not in germany surely in another country.
The WWII showed the entire humanity, the extreme limits of humans behaviours, so If we haven't seen them whit Hiltler, we will have seen them with another one.

There were conflicts, or small wars if you prefer, within greater Europe starting right after W.W.I. In terms of something that would become multi-national, irrespective of Germany you had the Soviet Union, Uncle Joe and Communist expansionist doctrine.
I don't suppose Stalin would have attacked Poland in '39 if it were not for Hitler's offer of division, but, that same pact went on to give the SU the green light to annex Finland and the Baltic States. At some stage, even with a moderate Germany, my 50p says there would have been a crisis point reached between the Soviets and western Europe. Perhaps a prolonged ‘Cold War’ type stand-off would have followed, or perhaps open conflict as when we did arrive at a Cold War, the prime factor stopping it from going Hot was the advent of the Atom bomb. Now, if we didn’t have Hitler and the consequential events, when would the bomb emerge and who would have it?

Interesting points No.9 Stalin moving in to other countries, prodding the west for a reaction interesting. I don't think Stalin would move that fast more like on the sly, but as you say a cold war could have been on the cards.

Interesting question. Hitler did kick the scientists out of his country for being jews so maybe not Germany.
Also, like we´ve seen, during wars science progresses huge steps and such sums of money and numbers of men are invested that probably during peace time it could never happen (?)
Anyway, I´d think the US would be the only place that could do it and maybe in the 1960´s?

Even if there was no Hitler the question is could the Nazis still take power? If yes then Germany would not have. And if no I don't know bit of a tricky one or so what impact that would had on America? would they still be in the position to build the bomb and drop it on Japan?

Without Hitler there would have been no NSDAP because Hitler named the party so the answer to your first question is that Nazis could not take power without Hitler. ( I also believe Hitler himself made the party program more or less ).

So with no Hitler, no Nazis so who could have won out? And could Germany now build the bomb?
