You don't hear much of submarines in the Pacific?
Tonnage sunk by "Top" 25 American subs...
1,883,734 tons
I can name the Subs and their victims too, not just the top 25, but all of them.
I have the United States Naval Institutes ...
Submarine actions in World War II.

i think what tommeant was that oposed to the war in the atlantic the submarine war in the pacific is mentioned a lot less, tom though not any the less important the thing with the war in the atlantic was that britains survival depended upon the ships getting through. every merchant man sank in the atlantic was a blow to britain both to our economy and to morale, remember once America was drawn into the war and started to station troops here more food and ammunition convoys were need to keep us supplied, thus the sub war intensified, in the pacific it was about limiting your enemies ability to wage war. in the atlantic a whole nation and battlefront depended upon it.

Hey Tom,
You have to take into account that in essence... there was something I guess you could say that was to be a midwayesque type battle. It was going to take place over Iceland. The Germans wanted it for a forward refueling base for their "wolfpacks" and as a forward operating base for fighters and the eventual "Amerika" bomber.
However, the U.S. in early 1941 beat Germany to the punch and placed U.S. Marines of the 1st Provisional Marine Brigade on the island and solidified their positions in the area so that Germany gave it up.
Regards,
MARNE

Tom Clancy's Red Storm (1986) is more or less on this subject but it has to do with WWIII Russians
