Poland and Russia Invade Germany
If Poland and Russia made a secret pact to invade Germany. I believe England and France would of come to Germany's aid (England and Germany were not very happy when Stalin went into Finland). There would of been several years of fighting in Russia with a peace treaty signed and Russia losing vast amounts of land to the Eurpean powers and the US would of been limited to fighting the war in the Pacific.

Re: Poland and Russia Invade Germany
Interesting scenario. I doubt Poland would have ever allied itself with the Soviets but lets go with it. I do not think Britain would have defended Germany. What time frame are we talking about? If it is 39', then definitely not due to Hitler gobbling up countries and the British were already wary of Hitler's intent. If 36', then Maybe but I still think not. Neville Chamberlain was not a hawk and did not want any war which is why he gave in to Hitler.

Re: Poland and Russia Invade Germany
Not really sure as to what the objectives of this scenerio are. What is Russia and Poland trying to achieve? and why would they ally together? What year are we talking about? Also why would Russia want to attack Germany?

Re: Poland and Russia Invade Germany
You're right but suppose they just did, in say after the Munich Crisis or early 1939.
Motive? Well, if Stalin had the stomach to deal with the arch-enemy the Nazis he might have dealt with the Poles if they offered a palatable enough bribe, like East Prussia.

Re: Poland and Russia Invade Germany
Going on that scenario, I would say that Germany would have been able to put up a solid defense. The Poles had no armour to be speak of and the Russians really only had their light tanks and the T-35 which was wholely unreliable. 80% of the T-35 casualties during Barbarossa were from breakdowns and not from combat. That would leave infantry. The Germans had superior air power at this time with good artillery and the Pzkfw II was good for the period with the Mk III coming out in numbers. The only question would be if Germany had the necessary supplies to follow through a lengthy counterattack.

Re: Poland and Russia Invade Germany
Well, then I am going to say that things would not have gone to well for Russia in fact might very well have been disastrous, military and politically.
As history shows, Russians are quiet and peace loving, just dont attack them

Re: Poland and Russia Invade Germany
Fearing a communist takeover of western Europe France and Britain would have no choice but to help Germany, one thing though Poland would certainly have had to become a Communist State, that would be the price to pay for Soviet help.

Which is why this scenario would never have taken place. The Poles finally have their own country and were not going to give it up freely regardless of the threat.

Re: Poland and Russia Invade Germany
Yeah, you're right, the Poles are no longer under the Soviet or Russian rule so why would they ally themselve to their former Masters and if the eventuallity the two win Poland would kiss her independence good by, just as Latvia, Lituania, Estonia and Roumanian Bessarabia (Now Moldova).
