What If? Alternate History: Speculate about WWII battles that never were. Could the Axis have won? What if Hitler had the bomb?

Okay, you will have to follow me here for a few centuries. What if Julius Caesar had not been assassinated and had gone on to conquer all of Germania and most of eastern Europe. While Rome would still fall, the civilization of Germany would have started hundreds of years early with a distinct chance of creating a unified German people long before 1871. Now assume that Germany won WW1 but suffered far worse from the great depression creating a similar environment to the historical Germany of 1930s. What could have happened?

I forgot where, but I remember reading something about Augustus's 3 lost legions. Stating that if Germany had been conquered then Hitler would have never been?

I think I also might have seen this on the History Channel?

Anyone else seen this?

I do know this, Hitler and the Nazis owe their success on the 'stabbed in the back' theory so if Germany had won WWI but got hit hard because of the depression, I do not believe WWII would have happened in Europe.

Question though, What would have Germany accomplished in this scenario as a victor? Would France be occupied? What about in the African colonies? Too many variables but basically my answer is the same. No WWII and No Hitler.

BTW, have not heard the relation between the 3 lost legions and Hitler. Sorry Slon. I don't think Germany was unified because of a timeline, but because of the cultural atmosphere.

Elephant can you find out more about your legions and Hitler?

But would Germany have been more united under the influance of the Roman Empire?

I'm not 100% on this but, I believe the connection with the Three lost legions is that they were Defeated in battle by Arminius in 9AD. During Hitler's years leading Germany he played Arminius up as the typical Aryan hero.

Damn i cant find any connection between the two... Even though I vividly remember one!

Hey Tikilal try You Tube... and look for the battle of Teutoburg Forest, im sure the same History channel episode is on there and at the end they make the correlation between Germany's ability to withstand the Roman Empire's full reach and Hitler.
