Hitler for sure would not have been into a long war ideology which the idea of concentrating the offensive to the Southern sector would have meant.
Naturally for Germany more resources would be available by attacking south, especially wheat etc the following years, but the Soviets would have destroyed the oil wells for many years and Germany would not have gotten any valuable amounts for years.
Mean while the Western Allied would be sending loads of food and oil etc to the Soviets while for Hitler the conquered areas could be used after several years of fixing only. I recall even the coal was different and needed to be handled for usage (?!).
I donīt say it isnīt a good idea but it would not do immediate good at least for the Germans, I think.
