With my grandpa near the end of the war. He was on a ship returning home in the Pacific when the ship was torpedoed by a Jap sub. Most of the crew (including him) escaped and they were stuck on the ocean for roughly two days until they were rescued.

I would not have liked to be in Burma. The Jungle life, the fact that i would be surrounded by enemies and the heat would turn me insane.
I would rather fight in Europe with the British.

I wouldn't want to be on any U-boat during the war. Just the thought of being under water and ships tossing depth charges at you is a bit scary. Or on a ship transporting goods across the Atlantic.

Yup Tidalwave1 that would be a terrible position to be in especially when you were expected to die for the Emperor.

Being any where near a Aircraft of any side "who was dropping Napalm".

Kokoda and the Kokoda track under manned, under gunned ,(still using Lewis guns)and being ordered by stupid commanders from a few thousand KM's away

Any place where air craft can bomb the crap out of ya.
IE; Dresden East London and any the rest of the cities that were bombed to heck and back.

60 years after the fact I look back and can say I would not want to be anywhere there was the remotest chance of frezing to death, starving to death, burning to death, falling to my death, being shot to death, drowning to death, blown up to death, getting malaria or some other disease to death, or bayonetted to death.
So where does that leave? I could have been a USO girl in Hollywood - if I were a girl and had better looking legs!

I would not have liked to serve as a U-boat crew member. I don't like the idea of going to the bottom of the Atlantic after being depth-charged, torpedoed, or rammed. Ditto for being a figher pilot in the Luftwaffe. I would not want to be shot out of the air in flames and burning and crashing and burning some more. Both Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe personnel at the sharp end were ruthlessly sacrificed in the last two years of the war. If I were in the Kriegsmarine or Luftwaffe, I'd have preferred to be pressed into service as infantry in a Volksgrenadier division towards the end of the war rather than be on a U-boat or in a fighter.

I would not want to serve on the russian front. It looked like it was one of the worse fronts in the war. It was just about one big massive killing field on both sides.
