I am near the end of an excellent book written by Gottlobb Herbert Biderman - In Deadly Combat.

It involves the fighting in the Crimea, including the Siege of Sevastopol, also fighting in the outskirts of Leningrad and Lake Ladoga. He was wounded many times and became very highly decorated before being captured the the Russians during his capture in the Courland Pocket. I was very surprised by how the book reads, its more exciting then many novels ive read and its based oin is memoirs, letters home, historical documents, etc.

I wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone who is even remotely interested in WWII from the German perspective.

Bought this a while ago and read it. Truly excellent material on close combat in Russian front.

Glad you guys liked it as well!

Totally great war time description from Krim 1942-to Leningrad front during Stalingrad and ending in Kurland battles in WW2. As well material on life in Russian camps.

Better than Guy Sajer´s, well at least because this truly is authentic, no doubt about that!!
