I have just began reading this book The Last 100 Days written by John Toland. This is an account of the last few months before the germans lost the war. Some people interviewed and or there is alot of information about in this book are:
Ss Gruppenfuhrer Erich von den Bach-Zelewski
General Hermann Bach
General Fritz Bayerlein
SS Obergruppenfuhrer Gottlob Berger
General Ernst Biehler
General Johannes Blaskowitz
General Gunther Blumentritt
General Franz ritter von Epp
General Heinz Guderian
General Otto Hitzfeld
GFM Wilhelm Keitel
SS Brigadefuhrer Heinz Lammerding
General Hasso Von Manteuffel
SS Brigadefuhrer Wilhelm Mohnke
General Otto Remer
Colonel Hans-Josef Rudel
GFM Ferdinand Schorner
SS Obersturmbannfuhrer Otto Skorzeny
SS Obergruppenfuhrer Felix Steiner
General Hellmuth Weidling
Generaql Walther Wenck
SS Obergruppenfuhrer Karl Wolff

an impressive list. I would suggest reading this book if you get the chance!

Just my 2 cents worth.

It is a great book. You also get glimpses of the childish "fighting" that went on between some generals. You also get a sense of being there, like an observer. Thats how well written that this book is.

The book came out in the late 50's or early 60's. It is comprises of many interviews with many military and political figures. A very notable interviewee, is Col, General Gotthard Heinrici, who was shifted from his position to command troops near Berlin.

This book is a MUST READ, if you want to know more on what happened this is an excellent book to read.

I agree with you evens, I found out much I never realized before. My favorite parts were when it was talking about what Gotthard Heinrici did as a defensive general. It also told great stuff on the battles of Seelowe Heights.
