I spent $28 on this book. Please, if you don't believe me, read any of the reviews at Amazon before you spend your hard earned bucks. Except for some photos, this book is a piece of crap. Schiffer Publishing obviously let it get through without proofreading, and the same must be said for the author. This guy can't write and belongs back in Freshman Composition 101. I get a headache just trying to read this book. That plus hte fact most of the book is regurgitated history of the 1st SS Panzer Division, and reveals very little of substance about Wittmann himself. And any new info presented I have to call into question when the author blatantly states that Sepp Dietrich was a Lieutenant in WW1. If you MUST have this book, then realize you are paying a LOT of money for a few photos.

BTW, if you're wondering why I bought it, I found it on the Barnes and Noble site for $7 less than Amazon, so did not get around to reading the Amazon reviews until after the fact.

It's funny but even some of them "sleeper" books can be useful. Thay make you much more selective when buying books in the future and make you appreciate good history.

Personally I like to buy my book at used bookshops, there are many in and around Toronto. They are cheap, and new books always come in. Sometimes i find a real gem. Over the past year I acquired 1st printings of Bill Mauldin's; Up Fron (1945), Albert Speers; Inside the Reich and Shirers; Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. All in great condition.

Ohhhhh if ONLY I'd joined this forum much earlier I'd have saved money!
Having a keen interest in Wittmann I bought it and could not believe how poorly it was written. It got to the point where I thought 'If he writes ''pertaining to'' one more time I'll throw the book out the window'. It's made me very wary of Schiffer ever since.
Although only covering one action, I'd recommend 'Villers-Bocage Through The Lens' under the After The Battle imprint.
