Unhappy

Gentlemen :

Just received this fine little book by author Tim Saunders.
Softbound, 192 pages, numerous fotos throughout and some good detailed maps. Contents cover Advice for visitors, Operation Epsom, Operation Jupiter, the capture of Maltot and the Fall of Hill 112 and touring the French countryside in the areas of the surrounding villages and of course Hill 112.
I found this a nice little companion volume to several other large works on the Normandy battles that I own. Some good text and first hand accounts from the British and German vets. I did find some of the pics repeated and mis-marked but that didn't seem to detract from the good reading material. Found interesting the authors thoughts on visiting the present locations and memorials and how this work fitted quite well with the web-site www.hill112.com

Purchased this titel through .......

Casesmate Publishers
2114 Darby Road
Havertown, PA 19083

phone # 610-853-9131
FAX # 610-853-9146

Out of the US this is a Pen and Sword Publication and part of their Battleground Europe series. Another interesting looking titel that I may purchase is Das Reich, France, South West / Drive to Normandy.

For the Hill 112 book I paid 16.95 US plus whatever for shipping.......

A good little book to add to the ones you already have on the Normandy Campaign.

Not to downplay the importance and sacrifices there but, the title sounds liks an Avalon Hill game. And i do apoligise in advance.

I looked at the website and looks good. I think someone mentioned it before that it looks more like a memorial site, and does have that feel to it.

Carl:

I paid roughly 20.00 bucks for the book and I think it was worth it. The web-site actually has a couple of personal accounts from some British tankers at the battle for the heights that are not mentioned in the book. I think you would like it.

I agree and I read what was at the site. I think that there needs to be more dealing with the British and the U.K. but they are hard to come by.

They certainly had one heck of a time there, and DESERVE their place in history. Its also why i apoligised in advance for comparing the real battle to an Avalon Hill game.

I had run across a site about 10 days ago, that was a british site, but I couldnt access it because the library had it blocked and I lost the slip of paper I had with its address on it. All I remember was that it was a site dealing with the British and Canadians fighting in the Schweldt Estuary. For the life of me, I cannot remember what the site was called

Thanks and it took me forever to type them in and look for mistakes. I can also get their award dates off the same pages, but didnt for lack of time.
