Bish--did somechecking over at the Wehrmacht-award forums. Before entering the forums--check out Rick Lundstroms article on Ribbon bars.

You will see pics of a few of my ribbon bars there.

The first one is located in the: "Good, bad ans ugly section, which is ribbon bar #3 on that page. It is a 7 place bar with double imperial award. This bar belonged to: The Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. He was an honorary Colonel-Chef (Colonel-in-Chief) of Bavarian Infantry Regiment 21. The awards on my bar are explained in the paragraph under its picture.

#14 on this page is mine as well--it is a repo.

The Double Freikorps awards I have on the other ribbon bar I mentioned to you are: Balkan Cross 2nd Class, and Sileasian Eagle 2nd Class. This is also very very rare to have double Freikorps awards. This is on a 5 place ww1/Freikorps ribbon bar that I bought for a mere $12.00. The Grand Dukes 7 place bar I have I got for a mere $55.00.

Unfortunately--the 8 place fake shown on the same page--I paid, $70.00 for. The mini devices are real and some made of silver--so it IS worth something--probably about half of what I paid for it--so it isnt a total loss.

Three new ribbon bars I am awaiting arrival on are all Imperial German bars. You can find a great list of ribbon in the research tools on this (Wehrmacht)forum.

One is a 9 place bar with these awards.
1)Unkn 2)Unkn 3)#57 on ribbon chart on the Wehrmacht forums Kaempfer 4) #79 on chart is: Bayern Militarverdienstkreuz 5) #78 on chart: Order of the Star of Romania 6) #66 on chart: Friedrich-August Medaille of Sachsen Kaempferband (which is a high bravery medal of somekind) 7) #59 on chart: Silver Bravery Medal of Romainia? 8) Unkn 9) Usually this color is reserved strictly for Long Service awards, but--this one has a crossed swords device on it--so I think it is somekind of award given tonly to members of the Royal Court or to actual member of the Royal Family themselves.

--------------------------------------------------
6 place Imperial Bar:

1)1914 ek2 2) #66 on chart F-A bravery Medal same one as on the previous ribbon bar 3) #50 on cchart:Ehrenkreuz des Weltkrieges fur Frontkaempfer 1914-1918 (War Merit Cross for Frontline Fighter) 4) #32 on chart: Osterreichische Repiblik Weltkriegs Errinerungsmedaille 1914-1918 (Austrian War Service Medal) 5) #30 on chart: Ungarische Weltkriegs Erringerungsmedaille 1914-1918 (Hungarian War Service Medal) 6) # 31 on chart: Bulgarische Weltkriegs Erringerungsmedaille 1914-1918 (Bulgarian War Service Medal).

--------------------------------------------------
My 6 place Saxon ribbon bar.

1)EK2 1914 2) #55 on chart: Albrechtsorden (Kingdom of Saxony) Albert order 3) #56 on chart: Kriegsverdienstkreuz 1915-1918 (Kingdom of Saxony) War Service Cross of Saxony 1915-1918 4) Unkn 5) #57 on chart: Kempfer 6) Unkn.

Whats special about this bar is that it has 5 Saxony awards on it--all high awards. This guy was a high ranking officer or a member of the Royal Court. Ill know more about this one and these others--sometime in the future.

Hope you enjoyed reading this Bish--if you get the chance to attempt looking it up on the charts on the Wehrmacht forums--you will be able to imagine somewhat what these ribbon bars im about to reciev--actually look like. You will also see why I like collecting them too.

One can get prizes and still pay next to nothing for them--as you have read here.

Thanks Carl. I'll take a look when have a moment. One question. Is there a great deal of difference between Imperial medals and the Friekorps. I know the Iron Cross was Imperial, but were others carried over and if so did they change at all, or did they stay the same through out the Weimer Republic and Third Reich.

I tend to think that Freikorp medals are basically thought of as Imperial awards because of the close time between ww1 ending and the Friekorps being in operation. 1918-to around 1923 period.

Even though Freikorps medals arent really Imperial awards, as these men were more like a group of armed "Home Guards" or another kind of police force. All the Freikorps members though--were ex-military.

You have awards like" The Balkan Cross in 1st and 2nd classes as well as the S. Eagle in both Classes. Then you have a few Freikorps units with special sleeve shields--or other metal and cloth badges. You also see a few with metal collar Insignis as well.

Now a major part of the tieing in of the Imperial and Freikorps is because the men who were in the Freikorps also wore their Imperial awards along with any Freikorps awards they might have recieved.

I lost my chance to get a nice 5 place Imperial/Freikorps medal bar that had: 1) 1914 Ek2 with spange(meaning that he had been awarded the 1914 ek2 more than once) then it had somekind of silver bravery award (I forget which one)then I think it had a Hindenburg Cross (which was given to any and all men who served in ww1) and an S. Eagle 2nd class and I think an Austrian? Campaign medal. I lost out on it as someone sniped me on it at the last minute--I could have had this 5 place medal bar for about $50.00 bucks.
