Finally bought a copy of Richard D Law's definitive work on the K98, ' Backbone Of The Wehrmacht ' . The second revised edition is now out of print but I found a copy on 'Bookfinder' in perfect condition .

The book has truly amazing detail and many photos which I've never seen before, including some of Hitler visiting the Mauser factory in 1933 and many rare photos of the K98 'in action'.

This book is highly recommended by members of the K98 Forum and it's good to have a copy at last.

Good going--i've got vol.2. on sniper rifles. There is a picture of one in particular that looks almost exactly like mine. It is one with the extended magazine on it (ribbed) but I think was only a 20 round mag as mine is a 25 round mag.

An idiot on another forum tried to say my rifle was a fantasy piece--I proved him wrong.

I also recently bought a secondhand copy of Senich's book about the German Sniper, Carl - is there anything similar to your gun in there ?

I've got Senichs book as well. I admit I havent really looked at it except for the day I bought it over a year ago. I don't recall anything in there looking like my rifle. My rifle is more of an experimental rifle and never saw battlefield use--it was kept under lock and key untill this rifle was taken by a G.I. at the end of the war--then about 40 year or so later--he sold it to the guy I bought it from.

I think pics of my rifle are still in the Militaria section and the thread was made by Volkbert. It shows the two rifles I have--the Mauser and my 1898 Krag Carbine. [img]smile.gif[/img]
