I've seen their advertisement in a Military History Magazine but--I have not bought anything from them yet.

Yes, I've bought from them and have been on their mailing list for several years now.
If you have to speak to them on the 'phone, the guy who runs it is strangely grumpy. But the service is fast, and I've had some excellent bargains from them in the past.....

I think about 30 pages of WW 2 titles alone. Well if the cahp is a grump, no matter as long as I don;t talk with him.......yikes sounds like a close relative to me ! has some outstanding Napoleonic books in his selections. Going back for another look today....

I'll explain the 'grump' bit - I had the weird experience of a package of books suddenly arriving that I hadn't ordered - in fact, I hadn't ordered any books at all....
So phoned the guy at N&M who snapped 'Well, send them back then !' as though it was my fault or something . For a moment I was tempted to bin them but did the decent thing & posted them all back.He did refund the money so alles was klar in the end.
But, as a well-known bookdealer guide used to say, 'There are some funny people in this business'....

Why would he refund the money when you didn't order the books???
It is my guess that your wife found the package; you played the murdered innocence, picked up the phone and let that poor, poor man 'know' that he has sent you a bunch of books, by accident!? probably your wife was standing behind you, slipper at the ready....
Sorry Martin, this story doesn't fly

Martin probably means he got refunded for the postage to send the books back to the dealer.

Oh yeah, the postage refund, of course!
Sorry about that...

Yes, it was like four pounds-worth of postage plus the hassle of packing all the books and queuing at the Post Office - and the books were all about the Punic Wars or something....

Ah, I get it... I assumed you could just sent off the package labeled "return to sender". That's what I was told to do in the past and never heard anything again. Assumed that that worked everywhere.
Ok, fact that they were about the punic wars gives you ample alibi...
Hmmmm...have to brush up on my Sherlock Holmes...

Between bombing runs the Punic wars might be good for you, Martin,eh? Or us all....
the Punic Wars between Rome and Carthage (c.200 BC), both sides used Celtic mercenaries. In fact during one Roman stroke of brilliance, they bribed a merchant to slip a great quantity of wine to the Celts guarding the Carthaginian Elephants. When the Celts were sufficiently drunk, a Roman raiding party attacked and took sixty elephants back to Rome and the amazement of all in the city.

I know the guys at Naval & Military Press quite well, and can happily recommend them... their overseas postage is one of the best deals in the business, and they have a lot of books at very good prices... one of the few places to get nearly all the DelaForce British divisional histories for less than £10 for example.
They send their catalogues out for free worldwide, and issue them about every six weeks or so.
