Hot off the ( specialised ) press is 'By Land, Sea and Air' by A. Junier, B. Smulders and J. Korsloot.
Subtitled ' An Illustrated History of the 2nd Battalion The South Staffordshire Regiment 1940-1945 ' this is another in the consistently excellent series of studies from Robert Sigmond Publishing ( the last was the brilliant 'B Company Arrived' ).
Covering the South Staffs glider ops from initial training, through Italy and conluding in Norway, the real 'meat' of the book and the bulk of the material concerns the South Staffs at Arnhem. The three authors are all 'Friends of the Airborne Museum' and have collectively spent many years studying the ground, interviewing veterans and researching written and photographic archives. The result is the first closely-researched study of the South Staffs Arnhem actions - don't forget that these include the activities of two VCs ( Cain and Baskeyfield ).
As always from Robert Sigmond, the book is beautifully produced and well-illustrated with many photos which I for one have not seen before. A book of this quality is a bargain at around £20 but be warned - the print run is limited. Copies can be obtained via Forum member 'Airborne Medic'.
Highly recommended !
