Hiroshima Diary: The Journal of a Japanese Physician, August 6-September 30, 1945: Fifty Years Later
by Michihiko Hachiya, Warner Wells (Editor), John W. Dower
I just read the Finnish version and if you are interested in reading what it´s like to be on the receiving end of an atom bomb then this is the book to read.
Mostly I was surprised how little help the local police and army gave the people. Mostly I guess because they were afraid of the radioactivity, and as well it seems the government was afraid the nation would know "too soon" of the major explosion.
And the terrible surprise as the people who thought they had survived the bomb, the radioactivity disease came killing almost all the survivors.
