Hi all,

I was wondering if there were any good military book clubs out there. I have found a few, but I thought I would ask the experts for their opinion before I go comitting my first born and promising to buy 5 more books over the next few years. PLEASE HELP!

Thanks,

V/R

To be truthful, AF4L, I've never been tempted to join one although there are several in the UK.

This is mainly because I'm fortunate enough to live in London where there are many secondhand and discount bookstores; so I never have a problem finding what I want. Another issue for me is that, being a book collector, I'm very aware that 'Book Club Editions' have very little resale value.

I notice that you're based in Germany and may have problems finding English titles. I must say that I have no idea how the UK Book Clubs can hope to survive when Amazon offer such excellent deals on new titles......

Thx for the input, and I think you're right about the resale value. If I was in the USA I would know of many places to go, but being out here, it is very difficult. I'll keep looking!

my question is why at all ? I have done this with several in the states and if anything have found a few uncommon titles but not really in my interests to keep me going as a member.

click up Christian-Schmidt books on google or some other search base. Since you are in Germany he has tons of titles especially if you order his catalog......his service is excellent and his wife speaks and writes excellent English.

just two big Pfennigs worth

I agree with the gents above; I rather save my pennies for books I really want. I use bookfinder.com (and antiqbook.com) and have books shipped to me from all over the globe. Never had any trouble.

And those book clubs, like Erich says, usually don't have the books I am eager to get.

I agree with everyone also. I am lucky enough to have a small bookstore in my neighborhood whose owner is willing to locate titles I am interested in and special order them for me.
