Smile 'Panzer Commander' - von Luck

Some books are elusive and for me this has been one of them. For some reason it was never published in the UK and I have only had the rather horrid small-print Dell paperback edition for some years. OK, I could have gone on 'Bookfinder' but couldn't really be bothered.

Really pleased yesterday at the Beltring fair to get a mint first edition ( Praeger, 1989 ) for just £10. Hans von Luck's combat experience ranged from Poland, France, North Africa and Eastern Front to Normandy and his book is often quoted from in other works, so I'm really looking forward to reading it in depth.

I read that book 10-15 years ago and was a good book. I am glad you were able to find the hardback verson of it.

I have to be content with Dell's paperback edition, but as words are the same I don't care

I got a paperback copy of the book from Amazon (Cassel Military) just over a month ago and have read it twice since. I liked the manner of it's writing and the translation, I would have loved to have attended one of his lectures.

I also have the paperback but would love to find a hardcover edition. Excellent reading.
