Default The Ultimate Battle

I'm currently reading The Ultimate Battle: Okinawa 1945 - The Last Epic Struggle of World War II by Bill Sloan. Early on, this one looks like a keeper. If anyone's interested, I'll give my recommendation when I'm done.

Anyone else read this one, or anything else by Sloan?

Default Re: The Ultimate Battle

I can recommend his Brotherhood of Heroes: The Marines at Peleliu 1944. It was one of several books about Peleliu that I read last year, and it measures up as a well-written account of the battle (though not as thorough a history as Alexander's), with plenty of "combat" stories and narratives on tactics and the battle as a whole.
