Anyone else ever read this awesome book by a real German ww2 veteran?

What made me suspicious is the bit where Sajer describes meeting Sven Hassel "the well-known author", as their units are supposedly retreating from somewhere.

Also, some of the swearing and slang did not sound 'German'. I have to read it again to remind me of other things that I noticed.
