At amazon i came across a 3 part series by Eric Mombeek called "Defending the Reich" a history of JG1, and a single volume titled "Defending the Reich - History of Jagdgeschwader Oesau".
Are they the same book? the diference being the later divided into 3 parts?
And if so, do any of you recommend it? Is it a photohistory or a proper history of the unit?

...definitely 'proper' histories...the 3-parter softback is the updated edition. Terrible format, but the publisher told me he thought the market for large expensive unit histories had dried up..
the original single-volume tome suffers from indifferent translation (sorry John!) and dark photo reproduction..but in its day was a pioneering work !

worth buying in any case and Mombeek is first class
