Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks are producing it. Their shooting most seens in the same sound-stage in which they shot Saving Private Ryan. They have 10,000 stand-ins, and are building wooden models of German tanks including Jagdpanthers. And it covers from 1941-1944. Africa to the Bulge and everything in between.

It's great that there are two big names in Hollywood, spielberg and hanks that just love WWII history. They should be making WWII productions for a long time to come.

Have you read the book, I'am just doing it! It's too great!
Somedody told me there's only 7 episodes (!!!)
Nevertheless if it follows the Ambrose scenario it's covers the beguining of the 506th PIR E Co. in North America, his tranfer to UK, the normandy landing, Market garden, Bastogne and Germany...

HBO usually has fairly decent military movies.
Ever seen that one on the history of the bradly fighting vehicle? that was really funny
"where are my sheep??" "aaah well sir the general ordered them taken off to be cremated right away"

I think this has real potential. I just finished reading the book. Easy Company was truely an "elite" combat unit, their story is both heroic and harrowing. Ambrose is one of the best military writers on the block today. I dont think Spielberg or Hanks will allow their accomplishments to be belittled by trivializing them. Hey, these are the guys who "liberated" Hitlers Staff car, and when the big wigs made them turn it in they shot it to pieces.
