Thank you Roland, this was nice of you to post and it was an interesting read. Definately the film is one of my all-time favorites. Shame it's sequel wasn't so hot.
I read the book a few years ago and didn't care too much for it even though it was portrayed as real as an author can possibly make it.
By the way, I long since finished The "Odessa File" book, and I did enjoy that one very much--many thanks!! I owe you...............
Reading that book was like being in Germany again--to say the least.
Take care my friend--yours--Carl.

There was a sequel? What was the name? Who starred in it? I never heard about it. I just ordered the video and am looking forward to watching it.

Hello PzJgr; The sequel was called: "Breakthrough" and the part of Senior Sergeant Steiner was played by Richard Burton. I don't recall who else was in the cast but certainly nobody from the first movie.
The movie really wasn't too bad but having Richard Burton always helps.

Oh Yeah! I've seen that movie. It was so different I did not relate it to Cross of Iron. It was Ok. I actually tried to remember the title because for some reason, awhile back I wanted to see it again. I thought the title was battleground but that is an older movie. Thanks!

I had it confused at onetime too. Also, I like Battleground--love that winter fighting.
