A new member of the Forums, (an extremely well read historian), sent me this 'short' list of 100+ WWII films he has seen. He broke them down into categories and I though it was very interesting collection of films. The list highlighted many of the great WWII films out there, brought to my attentions some films I had never heard of, and reminded me of some classics that I forgot about. For my part, and for those who might want to know a bit more about these films, I went through the list and linked all the films to their corresponding page over at the Internet Movie DataBase. To take a look at this collection of films, click this link:

I'm not really sure what I'm going to do with this info, but I thought some of you guys might like to take a look.

He's obviously not too keen on the air war - he left out Twelve O'Clock High, The Dambusters, 633 Squadron and the Battle of Britain !
Tell him to get round to my house & I'll put the videos on....

I'm missing "Come and See" by Klimov - my No. 1 WWII anti-war movie ever!
Nice list, anyway.
Cheers,

No "Ice cold in Alex" one of the best war films ever made (and one of the most humane)
The scene where John Mills pulls the dog tags off the German spy, Brill

.. and the Teller mine which turns out to be an old tin can....
Totally agree Redcoat - for me it's one of the best-ever British war films.

I saw it years ago on A&E, it was a very welldone war movie.
Any of you guys ever see a movie called: "Fixed Bayonets"? If not--I highly recommend that one.

Poor old Italian theatre gets left out again; no Anziofor example, and I was very surprised not to see the classic of classics, A Walk In The Sun.

Anzio--with Robert Mitchum and Peter Falk was good--I especially loved the ending with the fight with the German Snipers.
I thought "A Walk In The Sun" sucked.
"To Hell and Back" was also partly in the Italian theatre.

Very, very interesting list! That taught me that I am still very young and that I have not watched the 90% of those films! And now I hate the bloody Bluckbuster a lot!!! They don't have even "Patton" !!!!!!!!
