If so--what are your opinions of it?
I just bought it lastnight and have never seen it. I'll have seen it by sometime next week if not this week.

Well-- RATS I hope it isnt a severely schlecht movie but--what the hay--I got it for free. If it is a terrible movie--I guess I could always offer it as a prize for a future quiz?

Well....sorry , Carl .. ' Mosquito Squadron's storyline is sphincter-puckeringly awful !!
BUT - the movie has interest for WWII aviation buffs and special interest for Mosquito enthusiasts. It marks the last time ( ever ? ) that four real, honest-to-gosh Mossies were gathered together and flown in formation. A lot of the flying was done by the late, lamented aerobatics champion Neil Williams in Mosquito B35 TA634 which now sits at the Mosquito Museum.
There's also a lot of fun to be had ( for aviation movie anoraks ) in watching for out-takes from '633 Squadron'.
The kindest thing to say is that it's a curio....

Hi Martin--thanks for your reply. I guess its a good thing I have not opened it yet so I can take it back and trade it for another movie that I know is good.
I will be watching 633 Squadron tonight though--after I finish watching Operation Pacific.

Re: Anyone here see: "Mosquito Squadron?
Well, yes. About four-years after you guys kicked the thought around. The story's opening captivated me with the launching of V1 flying bombs. As Martin mentioned, rather interesting they used Mosquito footage from '633 Squadron, filmed five years prior. The story progresses to the bombing a V3 site with hydro bombs at Chateau-Chalon, which was being leveled at the end of the film. Seems the movie is based on fiction as I found a tourist guide link for the chateau. Can't seem to key up the info on the V3 sites I reviewed in the past and question whether Chalon was one of them. Did the hydro bomb exist? Not to be confused with the dam buster.

Re: Anyone here see: "Mosquito Squadron?
One of the best sources for info about the V3 is 'After The Battle' #6.
The V3 was a multiple-charge, smooth-bore,long-range gun firing from a fixed underground site ( yes ! it's the Iraqi 'Super-Gun'..... ) and the site was built at Marquise-Mimoyecques in France ( no chateau involved... )
After a number of attempts by Bomber Command, 617 Squadron finished the job on July 6th, 1944 by using 'Tallboys' which probably gave the film-makers the inspiration for their fictitious bomb.
'Mosquito Squadron' remains a fairly dreadful film but is worth watching for that opening sequence of four Mosquitoes flying in formation over the Lincolnshire cost. No CGI there, and the last time that such a sight would be seen anywhere in the world.....

Re: Anyone here see: "Mosquito Squadron?
Thanks for the info Martin. One of more unrealistic scenes was of the French Resistance and escaped Allied prisoners rushing the front of an approaching German tank rather than attacking it from the rear.

Re: Anyone here see: "Mosquito Squadron?
Its awful, both films- 633 sqn aswell, destroyed 3 actual Mosquitoes.
And countless Airfix ones suffered too in the making of this garbage!!!
