An interesting documentary on Military Channel on the Battle of Jutland[WWI].
Deep sea divers went down 'investigating' why the Brit.ships went down so fast.

Watched The Windtalkers on tv last night. Great movie, but very much made in the John Wayne mode. And why does Nicholas Cage always sound like he's trying to do an impression of Jimmy Stewart?

Speaking of John Wayne, the AMC channel showed a previously un-shown movie called "Island in the Sky".
Black and white flic with Wayne trying to survive after his airplane crashed.
Typical '50s acting.....ZZzzzzzz.

I just watched a movie called "The Grey Zone" on the International Film Channel and it was very good but chilling look at the final solution and human nature in general. Watch it if you get a chance.

They were both previously "un-aired" flics. Should have left them un-aired.
It stunk.

An interesting documentary on Finnish soldiers in autumn 1941 during operation Barbarossa. After Winter War we lost some land ( the green areas ) and in 1941 soon after Barbarossa started Finns attacked the USSR. However when the troops were getting closer to the old border they started to claim they would not go further because they did not want more land than what was originally theirs...
The documentary shows that 20-230 men out of the regiments refused to cross the old Finland-USSR border, and after long talks by the commanders some 20 men from each regiment were unarmed and sent to prison. Only two were shot after military court but several got 5-10 years of prison.
Quite an awkward military situation which partially explains why Finland never attacked Leningrad.

Just watched Fat Boy & Little Boy last week, a film starring Paul Newman about the 'Manhattan Project'. Not good… Better read Witts & Thomas' Enola Gay.

The History Channel is on their "secret aircraft of WWII" kick yet again. They are showing it all day tomorrow. It seems this is on every time I turn around.

PBS is airing an entertaining World War II mystery series from Britain called Foyle's War. The series features a police detective (Foyle) at work in wartime Britain.

I have been increasingly interested in the Vietnam War as of late. This week I watched Full Metal Jacket, Hamburger Hill, and Good Morning Vietnam.

Just bought a couple of videos:
The War file: Secret armies 1. Mountain men of Crete, 2. The French resistance
Aviation at war: F4U Corsair in WW2
Battlefield : The West Wall ( actually a bit weird as in this the Battle of the Bulge is considered as a trap by Ike who deliberately put weaker forces in the Ardennes to lure the Germans into attack. I thought he put them there because he thought it was a more peaceful place )

Just recently saw a Russian production called "Come See". It was weird. Some parts look accurate and well done but most of it was just different. Anyone see it?
