I took a break of sorts from watching Ganster Movies, so I could get my dosage of Duke in-and watched Fort Apache late last night and Rio Grande this morning ;-))

Default Re: What have you been watching?

I watched "Melvin and Howard" the other night. Didn't care for it at all. It wasn't terrible, just not interesting enough to invest 90 minutes watching. It was about the guy who claimed he picked up Howard Hughes in the desert of Utah, and drove him to Vegas and spotted him 50 cents (that's all he had on him). Anyway, about 10 years later Howard cashes in his chips, and leaves 1/16 of his riches to Howard in the infamous "Mormon Will." Of course the courts overturns the will and gives all of it to the family of Howard Hughes and the IRS. The movie centers on Melvin Dummar, the good natured simpleton whose life goes from one pile of sh1t to another. And I can't believe Mary Steenburgen got an Oscar for her performance of Melvin Dummar's dim-witted wife.

Last night I watched "The Perfect Blonde." It was lame. I had to go to imdb to read up on what it was about. Still not sure. The storyline was just the story of a struggling actor wannabe and his live-in girlfriend. Semi-interesting enough just that, the movie portrays the background of starving artists lives, but not sure why the name of the movie was attached to this story. Again I had to refer back to imdb for guidance, but as with the 1st movie mentioned, I am at a loss. I am also at a loss for why this movie was rated so high (7/10 stars). The only good scenes was when a gay model farted during a photo shoot (he started crying and babling in Italian) and at the end when a runaway dog came back to his owner, a senior citizen. Give me a good ole shoot'em up any day!

On deck is "Hart's War."

They probably didn't like the movie either!

"Hart's War" was pretty good. I saw it several years ago, and this time I was able to concentrate on background action and things that I missed last time.

Hi A/ your right, she hated it. Too many wrong things to mention. Also, she did meet up with the guy who allegedly picked up her Father-as she met him at the premier of the movie. I don't remember her telling me where that was at? possibly in Los Angeles??? not sure?? Anyway, she hates talking about that movie as well as about some of her half Bros and Sisses's too. I can't say much but a part of the family is trying to shaft the other part out of what's legally theirs.

Saw Indigenes last night, a French movie by a North African director which chronicled the story of five pals from the same Algerian(?) village who joined the Free French forces and fought in Europe.
Despite having subtitles, the movie was pretty good, with some realistic battle scenes. There was a sting in the tail though; when all the French colonies started getting independence in the '50s and '60s, the French government cancelled veteran's pension rights, saying they were not entitled to them as they were no longer French citizens. They were shamed into reversing that decision when this film was released in 2004, although they still haven't actually paid out any monies yet.
Shocking, shocking, shocking....but our lot aren't much better.

Watched an episode of "Airdogs" on the Discovery Civilization channel a few minutes ago. It's a half hour series about two pilots (One military, the other a civilian) who travel throughout North America flying various aircraft. The episode I happened to watch, the two of them ended up at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum and flew the Mynarski Lancaster and a Stearman. Needless to say, It was an interesting program.

Nothing really special today with the exception of a Burt Lancaster Western where he is an Apache Indian. I THINK it was called: Apache? I didn't catch but the latter part of the movie. Also, if this is Apache?/ then Charles Bronson was also in it as an Apache Warrior. Chas sure looked the part a tad bit better than Burt-though both are favorites of mine.

Also saw the beginnings of a Chuck Connors movie where he played Geronimo. This was a very early attempt at hollywood dorks villianizing white men and the US Cavalry in general. The movie itself isn't bad because Chuck Connors and Adam West (of The Rifleman and Batman fame-respectively) did fine jobs of acting in this little shown movie. I think the title of this one was: Geronimo. For those who can't pronounce the name-its pronounced: Heronimo-the "G" is pronounced like an "H".

Not WW2, but watched the new series of French cop show Spiral II on the BBC on Sunday.
Even with subtitles, it's like the good old days of The Sweeney...and it's got the gorgeous Audrey Fleurot.

I watched "Switch" last night. Not bad. It was about a cad who gets capped by his girlfriends, and when he goes to heaven, the "Big G" sends him back with a mission to accomplish before getting the greenlight to come back and stay. Of course Satan protests and haves God put a twist on the mission to make things even. Check it out when you can.
