The funniest WW2 related comedy I have ever seen has to be Charlie Chaplin's "The Great Dictator." That cracked me up. Anybody else see it?

The Great Dictator was good but I also liked: "Advance To The Rear" as a funny war movie.

I like Jack Oakie as Mussolini, or rather Benzino Napaloni the dictator of Bacteria!  Great scene when Hitler is waiting for him to walk in and spends time setting his desk and the chairs. Musso comes in the wrong door and takes Hitler's seat.
 
Though I think it's one of the most enjoyable 'boy's own' films with one of the best casts, I still rate the humour of the incomparable 'Kelly's Heroes'!  The drama is so well interspersed with rib-crackers. Maybe one reason why it's so exceptional?

My vote, the pathetic attempts at dying by the actors in "Stalingrad" in the first half hour of the film, I was pissing myself I had to stop watching it after half way as it looked like a cross between a spagetti western and a puccini opera!

1941 is pretty decent.
And I also liked "The Caine Mutiny"
the scene where the Crew throws the survival gear at Queeg is amazing

Don Rickles and Donald Sutherland in Kelly's Heroes always crack me up. I also think Clint killing 740 Germans in 8 hours in WED is quite amusing.

One war film I really enjoyed at the time but is funny now is one with Michael Caine and Cliff Robertson in it 'Too late the hero' 1970.
I remember the Bristihs chaps lining up an ambush on each side of the trail, and when the shooting started started killing each other! I loved the bit where the boys zig zag across the field!
Anyone remember this film!
Michael Caine took his name from the film Caine Mutiny!

I nearly bought this film in Atlantic homecare in Newbridge yesterday... its E7.99 on DVD!
Great film!
Kellys Heroes... best film ever and always a good chuckle! Clints face when Oddball shows him the tanks is priceless!
Where Eagles DAre... Second Best film Ever!!! I love the bit where Clint is mowing down the Germans in the corridor, an MP40 in each hand!
Bollocks to 'action heroes' just gimme Clint!
Bit biased as I love WW2 and adore Clint!
I also have a HUGE Warner Bros(?) photo of Clint in his Gebirgsjager uniform... Bus in background!

'Too late the hero' for 7.99Euro!(5stg) on Dvd! bargin!
The Big Red one (1980) was on TCM the other night I watched most of it, I remember watching it with my dad, thinking it was really cool. Its a bit naff now though.
My favorite war movie of all time has to be Pearl Harbour with Ben Afleck, does dreamy love scenes.............just Kidding!
No it has to be 'Platoon' without dought, not WW11 I admit but had the biggest impact on me none the less.

I downloaded 'burnin bridges' from a shareware site... cant remember which but it seems quite popular. The album by the group who recorded the song is available but its utter crap!
My advice download it for free! Will try to find where I got it from...
