I believe the programme this Sunday is the one showing the results of the dig on Warton Marssh last August when the team look for wreckage of the two B26's that crashed into each other soon after take-off from BAD 2.

The aircraft were in fact two A-26 Invaders. The programme was most interesting due to the unusual nature of the wrecks, ie they crashed from low altitude, at relatively low speed, on marshy foreshore - which due to its remoteness, had simply covered the aircraft with freshwater silt over the years. As a result, the relics were large and recognizable.

I still have a problem with the 'TimeTeam' format - having to 'beat a three-day deadline' ( Why ? ) leading to much frantic cutting with power tools and heaving with cranes, and then leaving the bulk of the wreckage un-recovered.....

One hopes that the LAIT were able to go back afterwards and do a proper job......

Martin,
That marsh is about 2 miles from my house and judging by the quality of the mud not a place to go walking in your best shoes! Certainly large amounts of relatively intact wreckage....

The LAIT website is a superb effort - I look forward to the continuation of the A26 story.
