Note: This thread is the temporary hone of the mp40 Project. It will reside here until a permanent database is established on the WWII Network.
I just received contact from WWII Forums member Erich Hartmann, the email contained information about his desire to restart the mp40 Project. For those who don't know, the new Project will list films that have the much-too-overused mp40 sub-machinegun in it. Where possible, screenshots will be included to provide evidence on the weapon. Previously the mp40 Project was up to about 80 films, but according to Hartmann, since many listed films were submitted via email from others, there were many errors in the list. Hartman will only list films he has personally seen and can provide screenshot backup.
There was a older thread about this topic started by Hartmann back in 2001:
MP-40 Movie pics
More will be posted as it comes in...

If TV is included. how about virtually every episode of COMBAT, with Vic Morrow, as seargeant Saunders.
I can still hear that sound every time an MP-40 fired.
If not, never mind, I'll keep thinking.
Big Red One?
Saving Private Ryan?
Stalingrad?
Bridge at Remagen?
Enemy at the Gates?
Patton?

Ja ja. Indeed I am hard at work with my reborn project. I'm even throwing around the idea of "video games" that feature our favorite machine pistol.
Regardless, more to come soon. Think of me as the Ghost of the WW2 Forums - always looking on unbeknownst to the contributing writers Teaser: I've just uncovered a source that has actual screen pics of DELETED Raiders of the Lost Ark scenes that...go figure....feature the MP-40. Stay tuned.
BTW, a very special hello to my old friend Martin Bull from the early days! Glad to see you're now a prominent veteran of Otto's Vunderful forms.

And hello to you, too !
Although in my case, 'grizzled' veteran may be more appropriate.....

May I add The Guns of Navarone and Where Eagles Dare?
I loved those war movies from the 60s

Why should we mind? Because an MP 40 wasnt used by 100% of Germans, doesnt mean they shouldnt be shown in 100% of movies.

Much like the Kilroy Was Here thread, Hartmann is treating this like a true research project, he only lists films he has screen caps for. I just added two more films to the list, (13 in total now) and all this info, along with the sceenies will be available when the WW2 Network gets back online again.

Just watched it again the other day and was suprised myself.
Dr. Strangelove
Just before you see the Bill-Board saying "Peace is our Profession" one of the attacking soldiers shooting at "Ripper's" boys lets go a burst from an MP 40.

MP 40 has been seen on "Der Untergang" many times. If screenshots needed I can give it a try.
Here are Saving Private Ryan screenshots from Saving Private Ryan Online Encyclopedia.

Watching Day of the Jackal (again ) the other day; loads of MP40's carried by French coppers and if I'm not mistaken the Jackal/Edward Fox himself is finished off at the end by one wielded by Lebel/Michael Lonsdale.
