HI nice to hear from a ex Wessex man,
I was born in Chiseldon Slipper Lane the very last house at the bottom, My
father had coal business there from 1919-1929,
we moved to Highworth 1934, joined the 112 regt.T A FEB. 39.
In 2001 i donated and we planted a tree in the garden of the nursing home
with a plaque commemerating the Regt.also 43 trees at LONGLEAT the 43rd
Asociation hold their A G M and service every so often May 2006 was the
last time.unfortunatly i could not make it .
I have just had a knee joint replacement hope to be there another year, also
on the hill 112 the next time.
Iam now in the thoes of making a film of the battle of Hill 112, We every
thing in place, A production company [421] a camera man Martin Jones plus
script writer etc.it is hope to start in this October
interveiwing veterans, it will be a documentary with the backing of Veterans
Affairs Unit M, O, D.with a donation of £20,900 the balance of £150,000 will
be found by the 421 comp.
we are hoping to show that the British were there and not just the Americans
as depicted in most films.
Iam trying to raise another £3000, to enable to take some Veterans over to
the Hill to be film on the site of the battle. I am not sure if enough money
will be in the kitty to be able to do this if so then i will be able to take
more of them.
If you feel you can help and perhaps you may be able to ask around,
