I'm really looking forward to this, I don't understand why Flags Of Our Fathers and Letters From Iwo Jima bombed at the box office, they were great movies. Have they started shooting The Pacific?

must have been a lot of secrecy surrounding the filming, there are no behind-the-scenes pictures.

yeah im not sure. i heard that they ended filming from wikipedia. so i may not be right. "Filming of the series, done in Australia, started August 10, 2007, and finished in late May 2008."

Flags of our Fathers bombed because of the Side story. They should have kept more to the combat, like saving private Ryan. Dont worry about the political BS.

Looks like they were able to round up quite a few opperational LVTs from the few photo's I've seen. You can't beat seeing the real thing. Good to see the OD rolling...or swimming for that matter!

I'm not a big fan of the Pacific theatre, but there can't be too many good tv-series about the WWII. So, if this show ever find it's way to Finland... I'll be watching. And of course, there's always Amazon.com.

Heidi;
My late father in law was an actual WWII combat veteran and he did rate "Band of Brothers" as one of the few films on the subject as "close to the mark". Some other great films on the subject of WWII are "Talvisota", "Stalingrad", "Memphis Belle", and "The Longest Day." I never got "Cross of Iron" to my late father in law for an authenticity rating but that one might have also passed.

Well, IMDB just says "2009" But that trailer said 2010 and Wiki estimates the release date to be around March 2010 so.....who knows
