I think what is meant here is that native Greeks themselves ( who were living in Persia at the time) wanted Persia to attack Greece. Not sure if it was out of hatred of Greece or out of love for Persia. Either way im no sure that it constitutes them bullying Xerxes into an attack. Maybe just thoughtful suggestions.

Re: The 300
You could call the movie a complete one liner.
There were tons of them in there and some very good ones.

Re: The 300
it is an action flick nothing else, had the production crew really studied the background of the campaign and how the Spartans got to where they did at that Col then maybe in truth we would of seen something else, but that is not what the director intended............. hey more blood n guts the better ......

Re: The 300
I watched it and liked it-but could have been better. What I did not like about the movie is that they used too much of the CGI crap in it and also had some wierd-looking hunchback creatures in it. I agree with E, they should have stayed with the real history. As far as the acting goes, I never heard of any of the actors but, I thought they acted well.

Re: The 300
even the history channel which covered the "real" battle goofed up in several cases when aired at least 3 times, I watched them all between work. yes the GCI was different with buzz saw Amid trying to get in close.
will have to watch it again. Personally and slightly Ot but I am waiting for the huge fun filled graphics when future Cavalry charges will be included such as in Napoleonic themes which I can think of several at the moment

Re: The 300
I agree with you E, and another thing that sticks out in my mind that I hated about 300 is that the arrowheads (that were given a close-up for the final slaughter of the remaining Spartans) that if fired into armor--all would shatter into many tinier pieces against the Spartan armor. I had the priviledge of seeing real armor and weapons, arrowheads etc, from that period when I was doing my volunteering at the CC Museum of SCience and History. They had a few pieces of period armor and weaponry, that were of that period. Those "hollywoodized" arrowheads woudl have done absolutely nothing, in the way of damage-to any of those remaining Spartans. Also, they arrows themselves, would not have been anywhere near accurate.
Now, I too would not mind seeing a CGI battle showing those dozens of thousands of soldiers from both sides from wars of long ago. I'd like to see battles such as: Waterloo, Gettysburg, Stalingrad (yes, I HAD to include something from WWII) etc etc.

Re: The 300
Not only the arrows but the spears as well. The tip will not come out as easily if it pierces bone. Much like the Roman Pilum. It was designed to pierce and then break off. The king reminded me too much of Russell Crowe in Gladiator

Re: The 300
Guys, remember its just a movie based on a comic. Nothing out of Hollywood is realistic, if it was, it'd be rather BORING. Its all about entertainment. Those arrows LOOKED cool - no matter if they would shatter against armor. Besides, the Spartans were running around in loincloths - wheres the armor to shatter against?
I bought the movie too because hands down, its a pretty awesome movie.

Re: The 300
Musso, I did watch it as a fictional movie. My complaints are that instead of using CGI image for a whip-why not use the real thing? Stuff like that cheapened the film for me. I guess I was lucky in that I paid only $1.00 to see it because, I came out feeling like I was robbed of .75 Cents.
