Arrow UK TV BATTLEFIELDS

Peter and Dan Snow: 20th Century Battlefield

Monday nights BBC2 9PM

Kicked off last night with the Battle of Amiens 1918, the whole thing comes across well. Like the animated battle board, as the title suggests this is a look at battles in the 20th century.

Next week MIDWAY

Also to come STALINGRAD

And Korea, Vietnam and the Gulf

At last somthing worth Watching.

Thumbs up Re: UK TV BATTLEFIELDS

I saw the Amiens programme - it wasn't bad at all, and interesting to see something different from the usual Somme/Passchendaele bias. The Belleau Wood section was very interesting.....

What another cracking good one taking us from Pearl Harbor to Midway what a gripping telling of these events of the new ruler of the seas the aircraft carrier.

Looking forward to the last one on WW2 next week, just like Midway a must see.

STALINGRAD

This series is a good follow up on Battlefield Britain which ended on The Battle of Britain. If Peter and Dan Snow did a third one I just hope it will be all about WW2.

I know very little about the War in the Pacific and thought that last nights' programme was very well done ; a good balance between 'pleasing the audience' and at the same time some solid history.

Another great one.

I always believed the bombing of Stalingrad was an error as they should had used that force to bomb the east bank of the Volga, Paulus should never been put in charge of the 6th Army as he was a desk general. I will give credit to Paulus for not shooting himself at the end which made Hitler angry as he passed the comment "That's the last bloody General I promote in this war."

Well the series now leaves WW2 for Korea but I shall continual to watch this great series all the way to the end.
