Exclamation history channel special

on 13 of July covering the German special Kommando Elbe, you will hear my friend Fritz Marktscheffel give his story of the volunteers, the 109 a/c and the plans and the carried out operation of this ill-fated venture....one of the stupidest last ditch LW efforts in the aerial war over Germany. The History advisors worked very closely with Fritz telling him they would not add nor subtract anything from his viewpoint and or war time record covering the event. I originally told Fritz several months ago not to even bother with them because of poor past performances and getting historical issues correct, so even with their assurances I am still a bit skeptical. In either case it should be an interesting affair. Fact is too that you might even see a spot or two on the LW Sturmgruppen within ~ (hopefully)

E ~ enjoy it if you catch it in the States. not at all sure when the European release of this episode will show ..........

Carl G. E. von Mannerheim will become famous soon enough

wow, that sounds very interesting. (Am I correct is assuming the action focused on will be that famous death charge of the Luftwaffe?)

I do believe that this will be called Dogfights or is a series of that so called.

I really do not think I would call it that, though the oddity surrounding this from Hajo Hermanns perspective it would not surprise me. Actually it was not suppose to be a suicide do or die type of defense though that is what it is characteristically normed. Mentioned the Sturmgruppen last post as they had instructions intially to perform rammings with the pilot bailing out the last minute. this pipe-dream was thought up by Sturmstaffel 1 Kommandeur von Kornatski but was refused by the Gruppenkommanduers of IV.Sturm/JG 3 and II.Sturm/JG 300 as they both felt the pilots were of too much importance compared to machines........well it did happen but not on the scale that it has been given by research authors.

I'll be looking forward to seeing this. I wish they would also do a doc or two--on the Brandenburgers.

maybe in time Carl, I had to almost talk my friend into this as he was most distrusting due to the German tele crews twisting his story and that of his Kameraden for that terrible April mission

Will History Channel issue the DVD too? In that case I'd have a chance to see it .

Hi E, I doubt they ever will. And besides, they are one of the German equivilants to the British Commando's. I don't know if they ever had any operational air units but, they did have divers and other specialists and such. Still, a doc on those guys would be nice to see.

Dogfight has been on for awhile now. They[or Military Channel] also has a show called "Gun Camera". The only episode of Dogfight I remember featured both a Korean war ace and a Vietnam ace.
