Yes, please give us more feed back so I"ll know if it's worth spending money on it or wait until the prices go down.

Re: The Fallen
Well, the uniforms and weapons were ok, but there was no theme really so you were left with an empty shell in the end. Cannot see myself watch this ever again really. Oh, and the Germans did speak German...

Re: The Fallen
...sounds like I may have to save this one for a very wet evening when there is absolutely nothing else to do, and I have an opened bottle of wine all to myself......

Re: The Fallen
I watched one called; "when trumpets fade", well I watched some of it, the first part was hitting too close to home for me. I don't know how it ended, but the dialog seemed to be on the money, the situations between personnel and command were accurate enough, as well as some of the comments, presuming the main character was the best man for promotion, and knew what he was doing because he was still alive.
I have trouble sleeping after shows like that.

Do you watch any war movies? If so, did any strike as being accurate or worth watching?

Re: The Fallen
Hello Jeff,
Well, it might seem a bit outdated by today's standards, but Twelve O'Clock high stuck me as being accurate, it was more about the men and the ordeal of it all, it's a black and white film if you you have a chance to watch it. Stalag 17 was comical, there was always a scrounger that could come up with an egg, a bottle of Coca Cola, fifth of Scotch, or even silk stockings.
My youngest son took me to see Saving private Ryan a number of years ago, I thought it might bother me from what I had read about the film, it didn't. I think it troubled my son and daughter in-law more thinking what they were watching was real. It did have some very moving and thoughtful touches in the cemetery sequence, the scene concerning the medic getting hit was about as close as Hollywood could come to something like that, in my opinion.

Re: The Fallen
I think that you're absolutely right about 'Twelve O'Clock High' - I think it's a quite remarkable movie in many ways and actually I reckon it stands the test of time quite well.
It confronts issues of combat stress in a courageous way for 1949 ( for instance, has the British film industry tackled 'LMF' in Bomber Command ? ) and as for how it was made - well, maybe they didn't have 'CGI' but you'll never again see someone deliberately write-off a B-17 to create a scene.....

Re: The Fallen
Thank you Jack for giving me an idea to put on Birthday list. And yes don't jump, I admit I haven't seen 'Twelve O'Clock High' yet. Those who have seen it may now envy me because I have the chance to discover what is apparemntly a accurate movie.

Re: The Fallen
You have a real treat in store, Skipper - I kid you not. I wish I were seeing it again for the very first time.....
