Re: Les Enfants du pays
I've heard of it, and I'm anxious to see it. Part of the latest trend in France to give recognition to the colonial troops under their command. In this particular story, it appears that Senegalese soldiers are confronted with an old man's racism and distrust of locals. I'm sure at the end, there's a battle and all the Senegalese are killed after a brave stand, and the old man and will realize how wrong he was to judge them by the color of their skin.
In other words, it's one of those typical anti-hero war films that the French are so fond of. Still, looks very interesting and I hope to see it soon. Thanks for the links!

Re: Les Enfants du pays
I watched it. If I recall, all but two survive. They are sent out on a suicidal mission. They are promised rewards. Outnumbered, they end up fighting for a village and fend off the Germans. In the end, they are ignored and receive no rewards. The survivor is in the beginning an idealist and believes that the racist attitudes can be changed by actions and deeds. He thinks that by following orders, regardless of the danger, they can earn respect which in the end is not true. I thought it to be a good movie.

Re: Les Enfants du pays
Has it a different title for Anglo-phone audiences?
