I never saw the series as originally aired on TV-nor as re-runs. But, a few years ago, a friend of mine from Canada taped and sent me this tape with about 7 episodes on it. I have no clue what season they were from but, they were all well-made. I had the tape at a then, girlfriends house but forgot about it and left it there when I broke up with her. About mid 2007, we kinda got back together for a few months but, she'd moved and said the tape was probably in one of her unpacked boxes. I tried to get her to look for it but, to no avail. Anyway, I broke it off with her again and will also probably never get that tape back providing she still has it.
Anyway, to answer your question-yep-i've seen several episodes but never the entire series and not first run either. There is a place I found on the net who had the entire series on DvD, but, they are NOT officially authorized by the owner(s) of the series to copy and place for sale. Anyway, these are most likely copied to DvD from episodes taped from TV and will not look very good. Anyway, I know of at least one site-and probably more, that has them for sale.
It's tempting to buy them but, im going to wait for the real owners to have them come out on DvD.

Re: 12 oclock high series
I watched it with great interest when it aired. That was a unique period in American television - TOCH was the last of the WWII dramatic series from the 1960s (Combat and The Gallant Men being the others that I remember). I was more interested in "air combat" than a story line, and the show usually delivered. Can't imagine a similar show about the Vietnam airwar (though the 1980s Tour of Duty was an attempt at portraying the grunt's war). I haven't seen any episodes since and thus have no current opinion about the series, but a story line has risen in importance to me now !

Re: 12 oclock high series
Glad to hear that you liked the series-at least in the past. I don't know why its never shown in my area but, on occasion, it is played on a station in Washington-I know that because an Airforce Vet/Friend of mine has seen that series, COMBAT and Gallant Men shown there in the past 10 or so years.
I was a fan of Tour of Duty and will be buying the series on DvD in a few months. I especially liked the 1st and 3rd seasons the best.
On other series about the Nam war-I absolutely hated China Beach. Now had this one been done more in the style of M*A*S*H, I might have liked it more?

Re: 12 oclock high series
The original 1949 film 12 O'clock high is about as accurate as Hollywood can get in terms of the men and the ordeal of it all, in my old humble out of date opinion.

Re: 12 oclock high series
Hi Ghost-quite welcome ;-))
BTW, did you Gents know that Pecks Twelve O'Clock High was up against Dukes Sands of Iwo Jima, for Best Picture for that year. Also, was up against a movie with Cary Grant and I think two others including I think one with James Cagney?

Re: 12 oclock high series
I watched the original and then the series of sorts, for the time it was spot on or so we thought, funny always the same LW a/c attacking from the same angles, etc........but as previously mentioned that was Hollybolly back then. G. Peck sure looked like a kid didn't he ?

And sadly, what you said certainly is the truth.
I constantly thank God, for giving us people like John Wayne, Gregory Peck, Ronald Reagan, James Stewart, Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson, James Cagney, John Mitchum (Robert Mitchums younger brother and Uncle to Christopher Mitchum (one of Roberts Sons) and Clint Eastwood. Anyway, none of these listed even-not once-did they ever speak out against the USA. This is much unlike most of the rich and famous ASSHOLES of today. Such as: sean pennhead, george cLOONEY, tim robbins and susan saranwrap.
BTW, John Mitchum wrote poems and such that were put together and made into an album in which John Wayne, did all of the readings for. This album is called: "America, why I love her." Also is now available on CD.

Could this be an English title for the excellent German movie (actually 2 by that name) Der Teufels General? If so, like i said, it's an exellent movie. I have seen the original but not the remake which came out in late 2000.
