Thanks for sharing this Iron Cross. These are six great first hand testimonies. Incredible that these men could even find the time to film this.

It is very interesting mate, the pictures and feelings of the 'normal' soldier in Germany. And there is some really good sections of the film such as when one of the cameramen is in warsaw in a high rise that was interesting. The thing I like about 'home made' films is that they are not changed and made to look like a propaganda film like many documentaries are today and it is so annoying.

So yes thankyou for showing us this.

I had time to watch the 1 hour 30 again and must say I was really impressed. I noticed some small details like the Beute Panhards driving from France to the Ostfront in 1941 and some still there during the retreat in 1944. Also the names of the station like Königsberg . I really like the Kodak Chrome part, amazing he still had U.S. color film up to 1942 before he had to switch to black and white. I also liked the part with Von Manstein and the Luftwaffe veteran (the one from the JU88 sTAFFEL) showing his mates in the album. Panzer amateurs will be delighted too.

Yeah. This film is very insightful; it shows how high the moral of the troops was. I liked the part where the soldiers had to jump around like frogs. Never question your command, just does it. One thing that i learned from this film is that the German soldiers were afraid of dying, too. They were no more immune to fear than anyone else, but they still carried out the duty without question.

Brilliant,
A testament in terms of the history of the war, and the history of Photography.
Great stuff.

Cheers,
