Talking For thouse of you who are fans of the Americans fighting the Japanese. Guess what's now out on DvD :-D

I have not seen it mentioned her before and only found out about this today. A very good movie about the Americans whipping Japanese butt, is FINALLY out on DvD.

I betcha can't guess which one I am referring to? So I shant keep it from you much longer. Oh the pain of it all, damn the suspense, hang-dog if I just would like to drag this out and beat around the bush with the answer.

I'll give you a clue, this movie has Claude Akins in it. I think i'd be giving it away too easily if I posted who the Star of the Movie is?

But since im running out of time for the day-and for the next few days, I guess i'll just HAVE to go ahead and tell you. However, if you aint interested???? then I guess I will NOT have to post the name of this action-packed hollywoodize account of a group of soldiers who go trapizing through the jungle in search of-Japanese Soldiers to hunt down and to kill.

As I am now out of time Gentlemen, I will have to reveal the name of the movie I am talking about.

It is: Merrill's Marauders which stars Jeff Chandler.

Gotta go.

I have a copy of the movie at home and it's a good film. Just a little trivia on the cast. One of them is a Filipino actor Pancho Magalona. However in the credits, his name is misspelled. I specially like the scene when he curses in Filipino in the movie.

Hi Gents, Scott included ;-D -- just kidding

Yep, according to IMDB, the DvD is out but I THINK is sold exclusively from one site-i'll do more investigating when I can.

Scott, the movie is a very good one and fairly follows Merrill and his gang of Gents, who are going to attack Myitkyina (SP?) Airfield & Oil Storage facilities, which is pronounced: Mit chin ahh. I think Claude Akins should have been given an award for his performance in this fine movie.

One thing I have noticed is a lack of Jeff Chandler movies available on DvD. Shame too because he was a fine actor. Another good thing is that he was a Texan ;-D

I saw it when it came out in the movies when I was a kid, but haven't seen it since. My recollection is that I didn't like it too much, but I was comparing it to other contemporary WWII flicks like The Longest Day, The Guns of Naverone, and numerous old combat movies I'd seen on TV. It wasn't, as I recalled, a "guts and glory" kinda war movie that I was interested in then. But, I'd like to see it now, with a more mature eye. I also had the tie-in comic book that was issued when the movie was released - I'll have to look for that someday.
