Has anyone her seen a War movie called: the Inglorious Bastards?
I remember seeing part of it once about 25 years or so ago, and thought it was a good movie at the time. However, I remember almost nothing of the parts I did see, except that I think the ending took part on or near a train?
Anyway, this movie is now released on DvD in two versions. Version 1 is a 2-disc set, the other is the cheaper 1 disc release.
If you saw it, what did you think about this movie? I don't even remember who starred in this movie.

Hi Jeff, i'd not heard of it either until it was played on HBO or The Movie Channel. Apparently, it was a huge success in Europe.

Re: Has anyone her seen a War movie called: the Inglorious Bastards?
I saw the movie, "The Inglorious Bastards" at least 50 times back in the 1980's on HBO. I watched it everytime it came on. It is the best World War II film of all time. Ofcourse, I was only eight years old at the time, but action is action and I remember this movie had plenty of it. Yes, it did have a "Dirty Dozen" plot to it. I remember the leader of the strike team reminded me of George Peppard. But was it? I also remeber a mexican on a motorcycle that was very funny to watch. I hope the new version will live up to this classic. Derrick Pistorius pistoriuss@yahoo.com

Re: Has anyone her seen a War movie called: the Inglorious Bastards?
Yes, this film is a remake. As I mentioned, it used to air on HBO in the early 80's. The scene that really sticks out in my mind is the ending. I'll ruin in for you now..........The remainder of the original strike team get machined gun to death aboard a Nazi train in an effort to ignite a huge bomb located several cars away. The leader of the strike team, however, manages to get shot about twenty times by Nazi submachine guns and activate the bomb just as it arrives at its destination......an entire train station loaded to the brim with SS officers and troops. Everyone is blown to smithereens! What I remember that I loved about this film is the special effects of the machine gun bullets ripping through the bodies of the soilders. Also, I liked the fact that (as with real life) nothing went as planned and the strike team had to improvise all the way. Another thing that is realistic is that all of the strike team die in this film and yet what they accomplished will probably never be recognized by anyone, giving the viewer of the film a sort of empty feeling. This may be what attracted the notorious Tarentino to this film.

Re: Has anyone her seen a War movie called: the Inglorious Bastards?
I remember it from a long time ago but I must have missed the "Jewish-American soldiers scalping, shooting, strangling and otherwise gorily dispatching Nazi soldiers." parts. and this story line,"the rag-tag band of eight Jewish-American soldiers as they exact revenge on Nazis in German-occupied France, with each soldier bent on capturing 100 Nazi scalps apiece. It also follows a French girl's personal revenge on Nazis, with the two storylines eventually converging."

Speaking of a two movie set I just saw in a local store a double feature of "Kelly's Heroes" And "The Dirty Dozen".

Ok watching unless you have some other important things to do....
I guess it was the usual war film businez when it was made but with today´s standards...not a chance.

Hi Mike, my minds almost gone but-not yet! ;-)) I only saw part of it aired once-back in the 80s and on HBO-or Cinemax? I was watching it when my older Sister came in and chewed me out about watching another war movie. I missed most of what was on because she wanted to argue about soemthing I had nothing to do with. Older SIsters-ya just got to love em. ;-))

Re: Has anyone her seen a War movie called: the Inglorious Bastards?
Thanks Derrick, UK, Kai, for your opinions. Hmmmm, maybe i'll buy the cheaper version instead of the 2-disc set? I think i'll borrow a famous line and change it slightly. "To buy or not to buy? that is the question."
JC, I saw that same set for sale at one of our local Wally-Worlds-for I THINK $5 bucks. Anyway, have had both movies on DvD for years now. I don't like it when they put 2 movies on Disc-i'd rather have one per.

Hi UK, and many thanks for the advice. Maybe after getting my computer up and running-that I can see if it's on Utube or not? Thanks for saving me some money ;-))
