Default ‘Flying Tiger Heroes’

"Hong Kong action auteur John Woo (“Hard Boiled”) will remain in China for his next film, a WWII epic about the 1st American Volunteer Group (aka The Flying Tigers), according to a report on /Film. You’ve no doubt seen the group’s iconic aircraft, known for having teeth painted on their noses. Maybe a few of you have even seen the 1942 John Wayne movie “Flying Tigers,” a then-contemporary fictionalized story of the now-legendary airmen."

Should be good, China's most expensive movie ever!

Heh heh, i've seen Dukes version probably 50 times over the years. Also, there was another movie and more factual-that was made about the Flying Tigers and even had a few actors playing actual Tigers such as David Lee "Tex" Hill. I can't remember it's title but I THINK it might have had Dana Andrews in it? not sure? Anyway, it's a very good movie.

Is it God is My Co-pilot? It had John Ridgely as David "Tex" Hill and also starred Dennis Morgan, Dane Clark, Raymond Massey, Alan Hale, and Andrea King. Excellent movie.

It sure is and many thanks. I had thought that Dana Andrews had been in it but must have been thking of Dane Clark? I can't remember if its out on DvD yet. if so, its one I want to get. Dennis Morgan, Raymond Massey and Alan Hale Sr, are all plusses. They all were fantastic performers and I have enjoyed everything I ever saw them in.

Did you know that Alan Hale Sr. has the distinction of portraying the same character in three seperate unrelated movies-over the course of three decades? The character he played was Little John in three seperate Robin Hood movies-the favorite of them for me is The Adventures of Robin Hood with Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland and Basil Rathbone.

Just tried to rep ya but can't yet. Ill do so next time I can-same for s

I can't seem to find it on DVD yet, only VHS (Amazon.com: God Is My Co-Pilot (1945) [VHS]: Dennis Morgan, Raymond Massey, Dane Clark, Alan Hale, Andrea King, John Ridgely, Stanley Ridges, Craig Stevens, Warren Douglas, Mark Stevens, Charles Smith, Minor Watson, Sidney Hickox, Robert Florey, Folm)

That is a pretty cool fact about Alan Hale Sr. I don't know if I saw him in any of those movies (possibly but didn't realize) but that is quite interesting. Did he portray the character the same each time? It would be interesting to see how he differs in every performance.

Thanks again Jagd. I meant to look yesterday but thanks for doing my homework for me. I wish it were on DvD-not a bad movie at all.

Sure, I mean the video quality isn't as good as a DVD but if you have a VHS player you are good to go. I still have plenty of VHS tapes, they work fine for me
