New "Skin" Installed
Well you have probably noticed by now that the noticeboards look quite different. A new World War II themed skin has been installed to make this place a bit more pretty for you Rogues. I must warn you however that this is a Beta version and I'm still working on ironing out some glitches. And in that vein I might as well put you Rogues to work, if anyone sees anything odd glitches or problems, please keep me informed. I'll award positive rep to those who find something I haven't. Right now I have three bugs that I have identified and I'm working on. So be good Rogues and let me know what issues you find, if any.

Re: New "Skin" Installed
I take a couple days off and come back to this!
Hells Bells I thought I lost my link for a second.
Nice one Otto like the new colour.
Just a bit on the narrow side is it meant to be that way?

I like the new colors, it is easier on my eyes than the electric blue color.
Well done Otto.

Otto: The new pages take 3-4 seconds more plus than yesterday, but the new skin looks very nice.

Re: New "Skin" Installed
I liked the the new skin Otto, familiar to my Windows appearance. There is one thing I think would be nice, the banner on the left top of the page which says "WWII Forums", I tried to click on it to come back to homepage but it did not. If I am not mistaken it was what happened on the previous skin. Now you have to click on the image with the B-24 to get to main page.
Sorry, can't shake off the old habits.

Re: New "Skin" Installed
Otto, I noticed top of the board some times moves around from a centre position to a right position and even a large black gap at the top, apart from that strange thing nothing else out of the ordinary that I can see.
Anyone else noted this?
PS: I tried the refresh button and this corrects it.

Re: New "Skin" Installed
I like the general aspect Otto. Is it normal that the size of the screen is smaller and that it leaves two margins on the left and on the right on my computer? I therefore see a large part of a black background.

Re: New "Skin" Installed
I believe its part of the design. Notice the 'black splotches' in the black on either side of the top of the page?

Re: New "Skin" Installed
regardless the sides take an inch off both sides no-matter what colour you perceive. I'd perfer more space without the :dark: colour on the sides.
gotta get use to the overall effect, it reminds me of one German language Panzer forum, they use a listing of Panther tanks of the side markers.........it's effective

Re: New "Skin" Installed
Makes the forum look like one of those Yank planes.
Don't like the grey borders as already stated and on just now had a dark grey screen until I scrolled down to fing the forum.
otherwise, very slick.

Polite critique... I hope.
I think I can see how the sidebars give a distinctive look but they really shrink the available space for text, especially combined with the members info now living on the left rather than above. If you open a thread with lots of pictures the view expands to encompass them, and combined with the sidebar it shifts the whole thing way over to the right. Looks... odd.
Cheers,
Adam.

Woah! I felt like a drugged clown in a monestary when I first came on today!
I am a creature of habit, and at first, when I clicked on my bookmark link, I thought the site had been hacked!
It looks really spiffy!

Scared the heck out of me. I could do without the side borders, but overall nice.

Re: New "Skin" Installed
Hi Otto
You did ask for comment and Bai Jove !, you got it
My own immediate reaction is not to like the changes, but then, at my age you dont like change.
I now find that I have to set my screen to 125% to eliminate the Grey/Black Bars that others have also commented on.
I see that the skin of the sister site WW2 Talk remains untouched..... dare I hope that it will remain so?
Having said that, as site owner/organiser yours is largely a thankless task, and I for one will support your site through whatever changes you care to make in the interests of improvement.
Best wishes
Ron

Re: New "Skin" Installed
I was not talking about the 0.50 grey margings on each side but about the 2.5 cm black margins. I don't know if I'm the only one to have these. It's like being at the cinema, but the margins are vertical not horizontal.

Re: New "Skin" Installed
It's looking good Otto - but I also have black borders on both sides (using Firefox by the way) - perhaps that might compress text and photos?
Otherwise looking very professional!

Re: New "Skin" Installed
OK everyone, for the record: The grey borders are intentional. We have some plans to use them, so they are going to stay.
Also for the record, the skin is not done, we are still ironing out glitches and adding features, so don't get cranky. What did everyone do last night, go on a bender?
