Lifelong interest. I've been learning more specific Canadian military history now, versus the general information that was mostly available in the past. There seems to be more being written about the Canadians than ever before. Usually they were just lumped in with the British. So, bear with me when I seem to bring up the Canadian aspect a lot - right now it is the area in which I am concentrating my military education away from the forum.

The forum is literally providing me with a forum to interact with others as interested and passionate as I in this topic. And I appreciate it! As I also appreciate the welcome I've been shown.

You mean Canada had a seperate army in the 1940s?

They fought in WWII?

I understand what you mean. I joined and presently participate in Otto's other forum because it is more centered on the British and Commonwealth forces. I still complain because I cannot find good sites on such mundane items as British battledress and kit. Anything you want to know about the German forces is out there, but just try to find a good page (one that is not trying to sell you the kitchen sink) on Commonwealth dog tags. It ain't there, or at least I can't find it and I am pretty good with googling subjects.

Huh, and I thought the only we got from "the great white north" was Bob and Doug Mckenzie!

Seriously though, i would like to find out more about the Canadian troops that liberated my Father and his family in Holland!

My Dad was in Holland and I have a letter written to my Mum by a girl from the house where he was billeted. She sent some gifts to my mother which I still treasure - little dutch shoes that say Ho1land 1944, etc. The letter was translated for Dad from Dutch, but I have always wanted to find her.

I thought for sure I'd get a note from Adam, Owen or one the other clodhoppers from WW2Talk about this. Oh well...

Being a moderator in this forum has great pay....and you don't do anything. Or not much anyway, as this forum isn't full of idiots like most are. Not saying the moderators arn't earning there salary, just saying that it's a good forum, very good actually!!

Dam moderators making kick asss salary and not doing much for it.

This forum isn't full of idiots because the OKF here is actually very active. We spend a lot of time reviewing what's going on and nipping feuds and arguments in the bud. Being a mod is as thankless a job as they come, despite the great pay scale.

Pay is good, Nothing for regular time, Nothing and half for nights, Double Nothing for weekends and Double Nothing and a half for holidays.
