Quite welcome and definately needed and by yours truely

Of most of the names I checked from that list to my addresses list--I have about 10 Grossdeutschland RKTs addresses--tho I know some of those have already passed away I need to check which of those next.

Anyway--here are the ones I have addresses to:

This first one I think the site has the wrong first name and misspelled his last name so tho I have his address--i'm not counting him as a "G.D." RKT-----yet. This man is Affeldt.

Now I have one other that I suspect on that list--who is on mine that I have his address and he is: Heinrich Keese.

Now the ones I definately know are "G.D." RKTs that I have addresses to are:

Peter Frantz.
Heinrich Hindelang.
H. Knaak.
Friedrich-Muller Rochholz.
Karl-Heinz Oesterwitz.
Hans Roger.
Emil Rossmann.
H.W. Schone.
Hans Sturm.

I just don't know who of these are still living but i'm going to be checking.

Well--I just checked and of this small list--is a much smaller list of living "G.D." RKTs.

Those who have passed are:

Peter Frantz.
Friedrich-Muller Rochholz.
Emil Rossmann.

May they all Rest in Peace.

Munken is an unknown quantity at this point
Post

The Ritterkreuz was given to 7.361 soldiers.
Those who was rewarded with the Ritterkreuz and continued to show courage and ability could be rewarded with higher parts of the Ritterkreuz:
* Ritterkreuz des Eisernes Kreuzes mit Eichenlaub (with oak leafs, was given to 890 soldiers)
* Ritterkreuz des Eisernes Kreuzes mit Eichenlaub und Schwertern (with oak leafs and sword, was given to 160 soldiers)
* Ritterkreuz des Eisernes Kreuzes mit Eichenlaub, Schwertern und Brillianten (with oak leafs, sword and diamonds, was given to 27)
* Ritterkreuz des Eisernes Kreuzes mit Goldenem Eichenlaub, Schwertern und Brillianten (with oak leafs, sword and diamonds in gold. Was only given once)
The highest grade was supposed to be given to twelve persons when Germany had won the war, but an exception was made and it's only reciever was the Luftwaffe pilot Hans Ulrich Rudel. Rudel destroyed 530 tanks, 800 vehicles, one battleship, one cruiser, one destroyer, 70 "disembarkships" and more.

Thank you for these additions mate--I OWE you a big favor in return. Oh and--I will have that Cross out to you Monday--every time I think i'm going to have achance to mail it--I leave too late to do so. Monday the library opens at 2 PM--so I have plenty of time to get it out.

Oops--sorry for the wrong Hans--I was in a rush when I checked names against the list and thanks for pointing out who is still living--these guys are also tops on my list to write to as well as any living Gebirgejagers.

Sorry for the next installments of RKT who have passed--i'll add them to the RKT updates thread tomorrow if you don't get a chance to.

You have been a ton of help mate--and I thank you very much for it.

I forgot to mention--and Munken--i'm not picking on you but--the total of RKTs you list at being 7,361 is a wrong total.

The real and correct total lies between 6,313 to 6320 RKTs.

Sources: Good friends with the OdR and Walther Peer Fellgiebel--who published a book on all RKTs and kept it updated. By the way--Walther Peer Fellgiebel was an RKT himself at I think the rank of Oberleutnant.

Anyway--the numbers you got are misrepresenting the actual RTKs and it looks like you read this info from the Feldgrau site. Am I correct?

Like I said--no offence meant and I am not poking fun at you. I just want you to know the correct number range.

Cheers

PS--I know of at least two other websites that list the RKT totals at 6,890++ to 7,327.
