Feldmarschall GAG is an unknown quantity at this point

By 1944 Rommel was saying that Hitler was a fool, because he told Rommel that he won't get up, if he had, do you think that Rommel's image of Hitler would change???

Friedrich will become famous soon enough
Rommel never liked nazis, but he had a strong confidence and faith in the Führer until late 1942, after that, he lost it all because he knew the war was lost and that Germany was being led to total destruction, genocide and disaster.

Do you mean that if by some miracle Hitler achieved some decisive victory in 1944 Rommel would have changed his mind? If so, I don't think so because atrocities were still there, though we cannot argue about one man's mind...

I think Hitler´s message at El Alamein to Rommel struck him the hardest and Rommel was never the same again....

"I and the German people are watching the heroic defensive battle waged in Egypt with faithful trust in your powers of leadership and in the bravery of the German-Italian troops under your command. In the situation in which you now find yourself, there can be no other consideration save that of holding fast, of not retreating on step, of throwing every gun and every man into the battle...You can show your troops no other way than that which leads to victory or to death."
