Who here felt like vomiting during the 9th episode of Band of Brothers? (The one where the concentration camp was discovered)I was amazed at how "well" the bodies were done. I would have hated to be on the film crew or stage crew for that episode, imagine, recreating the image of the horror and terror of a concentration camp. .
But does anyone know how exactly did the extras become skinny, did they actually starve, or was it a special effect?

I think some of it being masking as you checked closer some of the inmates were not that "skinny" even though very thin.

The extreme "camp prisoner lookalikes" might be anorexia patients, and I would not think they´d be insulted if they were asked to play in the movie.

A lot of the people were elderley and several of the 'Prisoners' were of a very slight build.
Also, the use of oversized clothing helped to make the image of malnurishment seem more realistic.
Plus, there were a whole load of dummy corpses, which tend to make you think that ALL the actors were just as thin and decaying.

Clever stuff.....

Clever, but these guys in the film were obsese compared to the REAL state of prisoners found there, the term "walking skeletons", is not without example and that place was a seminal example.

I have the report by the British army medical services that entered Belson Concentration camp. it was printed on old war time paper and was so thin and nearly falling apart, that I had to reprint it from the original, any one interested? get in touch, and i will try to find it and upload it.
